Claude Duet for business

What Claude Duet’s research preview means for small businesses, with a practical proposal follow-up pilot, access limits and a way to measure value.

The short answer

Claude Duet is worth evaluating for work that needs context and judgement, such as preparing a proposal follow-up. Start with a draft-only pilot and a named reviewer. Its initial US waitlist means you should verify access before building a process around it.

What changed

Announcement:

Anthropic announced Claude Duet on 21 October 2026 as a proactive agent for professionals and small business owners. The research preview starts with a waitlist for US Pro and Max subscribers. Anthropic says it can continue tasks while you are away and checks before acting on your behalf. Background work shares the plan’s usage limits.

Useful for: Owner-led service businesses with proposals, messages and follow-ups spread across several tools.

Keep in mind: An early-access assistant is not yet evidence that your unattended customer process will be reliable.

The implementation recommendations below are Made of Systems’ analysis. This is a proposed workflow, not a claim of hands-on product testing or a client case study.

Choose one useful job

Our suggested starting point is proposal follow-up. Pick a small set of open proposals, define when a follow-up becomes useful, and give the assistant the proposal plus the latest approved conversation. Ask it to explain what is missing and prepare the next message. A person decides whether the proposed action makes sense.

This is a proposed pilot, not a tested Duet integration or a client result. The value is in reducing the effort of finding context and preparing a relevant response. A scheduled reminder alone may already solve your problem; only introduce an agent when the message needs interpretation.

Build the handoff

Keep your CRM as the record of who owns each enquiry. Use a unique proposal identifier so a revised document does not become a second lead. Separate “draft ready” from “message sent”; the latter should only appear after the sending system confirms delivery or acceptance.

Before connecting anything, verify the exact tools and actions available in your account. If direct updates are unsupported, begin with a reviewed task list that staff can use. Do not promise an integration because two products both advertise connectors. The pilot needs evidence that the specific read and write actions work.

Know when to use a workflow

Use a conventional automation for fixed rules: a new enquiry creates a CRM record, an overdue task alerts its owner, or a confirmed booking starts a reminder. These steps need dependable triggers and records. An agent can help when a step requires interpreting a long thread or preparing a tailored draft.

For enquiries requiring an immediate response outside business hours, evaluate a customer-facing chat or voice workflow separately. A personal assistant and a production customer service system have different responsibilities, monitoring needs and handoff arrangements.

Measure the pilot

Record the current time spent reviewing each proposal and drafting a follow-up. During the pilot, track accepted drafts, corrections, missed context and duplicate actions. Include review time and tool usage when comparing the new process with the old one.

A useful commercial result is more relevant follow-ups reaching the right prospects, followed by qualified conversations and paid work. A high number of generated drafts is not enough. Agree a small trial period and a stop condition before connecting more processes.

Common questions

Can a business outside the US use it now?

The launch announcement starts with US Pro and Max subscribers on a waitlist. Confirm your account’s current eligibility; this article does not imply worldwide availability.

Should it send sales messages automatically?

Our recommended first pilot prepares drafts for review. Expand sending permissions only after testing, with clear ownership, customer preferences and a way to stop the workflow.

Make it work for you.

We can map your proposal follow-up, compare an assistant with a conventional workflow, and build the smallest useful pilot.

Send your current tools, the task you want to improve and the result you need. We’ll use that to discuss a practical scope.
